What do I need to succeed in a risk job?
- Credit risk jobs require newly qualified accountants with strong report writing skills and the ability to interact with clients at senior management level within both commercial and financial services sectors.
- Market risk jobs offer highly technical responsibility, and require highly numerate candidates (Maths/Science based degrees) with excellent analytical skills.
- Operational risk jobs look at the risk due to human error or deficiency in systems or controls, and is often more appealing to the quantitative accountant.
What career path will a risk job offer?
With risk becoming an increasingly more important function in many firms, it is not unusual for a newly qualified accountant to progress via management roles through to board level.
